The ‘Göscheneralp’ is a beautiful valley in the central part of Switzerland with an embankment dam building an artificial lake. The valley hosts several beautiful hikes and climbing routes. The area is the home of several SAC (Swiss Alpine Club) huts, including the Bergseehütte which is the topic of this hike.
With a heat wave rolling over Europe, a hike these days needs some careful planning. With outside temperatures in the 36-39°C range, I prefer something inside a forest. And for this, the hike around the Fallenflue was perfect.
Seefeld in Tirol/Austria is a beautiful hiking region, northwest of Innsbruck. Nearby there is a beautiful hike around the Brunschkopf (1510m) with views to three lakes. But most of them may appear only now and then.
Now I can tell the truth: the hidden goal of this color posts is to check if I’m color blind or not (and you can check the same :-). After the lilac collection, here is the last one: this time the color is yellow, and includes a small trap.
Impression from one of my recent mountain hiking tours: Mountain spring water flowing slowly through grass meadows, building a symbiosis with green algae. Maybe a camera cannot reflect the number of green colors the human eye is able to see?
Summer is over and Fall has started in the northern hemisphere. Time of the year to do more beautiful hikes in the Alps. This time I take you on a hike through the green Tschamin valley: for me one of the most beautiful and scenic places in the Dolomites, Italy.
Oh, the mountains! Getting up, free your mind and have a wonderful view! So here is another hike with stunning views we enjoyed this summer: from the Karer Pass up to the Poppenkanzel on the Latemar. Including sitting in a movie theatre 🙂
The heat wave in Switzerland is still going on, and the best way to escape it is to go up to the mountains and higher lakes. This hike is going up to the Waldisee: a lake high at the end of the Bisistal, Canton Schwyz, Switzerland.
Switzerland has many lakes, the “4-Lake Hike” in the Jochpass region is probably one of the most beautiful hikes in the central part of Switzerland: beautiful flora, stunning mountain and lake views in the mighty Mt. Titlis area.
It is summer time in Switzerland, and the best time of the year to hike in the Alps and mountains. This time I’ll share with you our journey around the Glattalpsee (Lake Glattalp). Expect stunning views of Swiss mountains, flora, fauna and curious critters:
With the hiking trails covered with as much as 50-60 cm snow, the natural way to hike the trails is using snowshoes. Two days ago an extra 10-15 cm snow arrived, and the trails are just amazing. Here are a few impressions from the snowshoe hike today:
The ‘All Saints Day’ (Nov 1st) is a public holiday for some parts of Switzerland. And because I’m lucky to live in that part and because it could have been one of the last days with excellent hiking conditions, I wanted to hike a trail which has been on my bucket list for a very long time: the ‘Gratwanderweg’ (ridge hike) on the Stoos.
The Dolomites are full of legend and fairy tales (see “The Legend and the Fairy Tale of Lago di Carezza“), and one is about King Laurin and his Rose Garden. In this day hike we visited Haniger Schwaige hut, located below the Torri del Vajolet (Vajoletttürme, 2813 m) and Croda di Re Laurino (König-Laurin-Wand, 2813 m).
