With the hiking trails covered with as much as 50-60 cm snow, the natural way to hike the trails is using snowshoes. Two days ago an extra 10-15 cm snow arrived, and the trails are just amazing. Here are a few impressions from the snowshoe hike today:
Starting the New Year in the mountains, with cold snow covering everything. Beautiful view to the peaks, illuminated by last sun rays of New Year’s Day.
Happy New Year!
The Lago di Carezza (German: Karersee) is an emerald green mountain lake in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. It not only features an amazing emerald color: there is a legend and fairy tale too about it.
This winter in the Alps is very dry and warm. Because there is no snow it is excellent to do some hiking instead. I’m closing the year with the family in the Italian part of the Alps, and we visited today the Fane Alm, a seasonal alpine pasture. The most beautiful small alpine village I ever have seen. It is located at the top end of the valley of Vals, South Tyrol, Italy.
