Our garden has a large area planted with lavender, and this pays off every summer: the color! the scent and flavour! And best of all: many, many bees and butterflies!
On the pictures (click to enlarge) are butterflies of species Kleiner Fuchs / Small Tortoiseshell. As a child, we collected the caterpillars, feed them and at the end we had hundreds of these wonderful butterflies. Enjoy!
Happy Lavanduling 🙂

Hi Carlos,
yes, I know the Andes and Patagonia, but I have not been there yet. Explorinig that area with a motor bike is on my wish list for a very long time! I hope there will be an opportunity in the next years to finally get there 🙂

Hi Erich
Lavender also works for butterflies and bees in my garden, but in central England it is not yet flowering. For spectacular results you should see if you can plant some wild majoram: http://urbanpollinators.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/wild-marjoram-origanum-vulgare-magnet.html
