Now about the biggest reason why everyone loves VS Code: colors!
Seriously, one of the first things you might change is the color theme, and VS Code features this in the getting started:

💡 Eclipse has color themes too. The advantage of VS Code is that it had designed from the beginning with themes (colors, icons, …) in mind.
Personally, I prefer a ‘light’ theme, but many of my students prefer a ‘black’ one. It is up to you!
To change the theme, use the menu File > Preferences:

One can use the keyboard shortcut too: CTRL+K CTRL-T.

Pick a theme which you like the most.
You can the theme in the Settings as well. Use the menu File > Preferences > Settings

Then filter for ‘theme’:
