Journey around the Völseggspitze

The Völseggspitze (1834 m) is a mountain peak in the Dolomites, South Tyrol/Italy. It takes a day hike around it and that journey is worth taking many pictures.

The hike (18 km) takes about 7 hours without breaks. below the map with the referenced points in the text:

It starts at bus stop in St. Zyprian (1) and then go up the trail #12A.

From the Tschaminschwaige (2) follow trail #4A up to Wuhnleger (3). There is a beautiful like behind it (see “Hiking up to the Tschafonhütte and Völseggspitze“).

The signs of the storm back from October 2018 are visible in many places. Follow trail #4 which has stunning views down to Tiers.

Finally, the Tschafon hut is in reach.

The hut is famous for its salad and garden.

Time to have lunch: Salad, and Knödel with mushrooms :-).

Then down trail #7B (5) and #7 (6) on a beautiful forest trail.

Follow trail #6 to Schönblick (6).

At Völsegg

At Völsegg

Continue on that trail to Völsegg (7).

Follow trail #4B to the chapel St. Sebastian (8). That small church (“Pestkapelle”, built after a ‘Black Death’/plague) dates back to the year 1635 and is built on top of an older romanesque chapel.

Then on trail #4B and #6 back to the starting point (1).
