Gnipen

On Sept. 2nd 1806, after a period with lots of rain, an estimated volume of 40 millions m3 of conglomerate rock slid down from the Gnipen, killing 457 people.

Today this is a nature preservation area. And while that catastrophic event happened more than 200 years ago, the area is still facing some smaller rock slides, with one last time in 2005. How would it have been to stay up here on September 2nd 1806 at 5pm and see the massive amount of rock sliding down?

Happy Gnipening 🙂
